Severe Weather Expected Tonight!

October 24, 2025

Weather Update From Your General Manager:

A line of strong to severe thunderstorms is expected to move through tonight into early Saturday, bringing severe winds and heavy rainfall to the area. New guidance from the National Weather Service shows that damaging winds have now become the primary concern for tonight, with heavy rain still likely but the risk of extreme rainfall totals lower than yesterday. The rain could come in several bursts and while recent dryness may help limit runoff at first, heavier downpours could still lead to localized flooding in low-lying or poor drainage areas. We remain under a Flood Watch and will continue to update the flood potential this weekend. Tonight, the most likely storm arrival window is between 9 PM and midnight, with storms tapering off before sunrise. The higher-end hail threat for Saturday has also decreased, with the stronger hail potential now shifting south into Central Texas. Any hail locally on Saturday should likely be small and isolated. Saturday morning should be mostly quiet, with the return of isolated thunderstorms expected in the afternoon, although any stronger storms later in the day are now forecast to remain farther south in Central Texas.

Hazards & What’s Changed

• Damaging winds (60–70 mph) are now the main concern tonight • 1–3 inches of rainfall likely (isolated 4"), with a lower chance of extreme totals • Low tornado risk locally (favored south of I-20) • Saturday’s stronger storms expected mainly south of Denton County

Timing

• Today: Scattered/light showers and storms • Tonight → Early Saturday: Strongest storms (9 PM–12 AM most likely) • Saturday Morning: Mostly dry • Saturday Afternoon/Evening: Lower local coverage; greater risk south into Central Texas
